Egypt

Abu Simbel Temple

Undoubtedly, Abu Simbel is one of the greatest historical sites in Egypt. This Nubian monument is comprised of two large temples built by Ramses II. Both temples are on the shores of Lake Nasser, the massive lake created after the Nile Dam was completed. Nearly lost underwater, the international community banded together and literally cut and reassembled these masterpieces on higher ground.

The Black Desert

Part of the Western Desert, The Black Desert is a surreal landscape that looks like a scene from Star Wars. This uninhabited region contains a series of mountains compiled of black stone showing evidence of volcanic activity in ancient geological times.

Cairo

For most, The Great Pyramids complex and Egyptian museum are the main attractions for a visit to Cairo. If you have the time and desire to dig a little deeper, this city has a lot more to offer than just ancient history. For one, Cairo a regional melting pot and largest Arab metropolis in the world. Thus, the food, shopping, dining, and nightlife combine a plethora of regional influences. If your goal isn’t just to see ancient egypt but the modern one, add an extra few days to in Cairo to soak up some culture.

Citadel of Qaitbay

You may have seen forts in other parts of the world that were more substantial in size but Quitbay was one of the most strategically important strongholds along the entire Mediterranean coastline at it’s time of construction. It protected Egypt from invading Crusaders and the Ottoman Turks. It’s beautiful restoration and coastal location in Alexandria make it one of the most popular attractions along the Red Sea.

The Red Sea

Stunning, pristine beaches, clear blue seas and legendary coral reefs – whether you’re snorkeling, diving, or unwinding by the pool, The Red Sea has everything a sunlover could possibly want.

This region of Egypt is easily incorporated into an itinerary and is a perfect way to relax at the end of your Egyptian adventure.

Felucca Boat on The Nile

Feluccas are the traditional boats of the Nile river and a great way to experience egypt like a local. Unlike the large cruise ships on the nile, Feluccas are small sailboats powered by the wind only. You can take one out for a quick sunset sail or a multi-day journey sleeping onboard. While there are many options when it comes to river cruising in Egypt, there is no experience quite like that of the traditional Felucca boat.

The Pyramids of Giza

The only of the seven wonders of the world still standing! The Giza Pyramids are an architectural marvel and act as iconic reminders of Egypt’s ancient history. A must inclusion in any visit to this region.

Great Sphinx of Giza

Definitely the most recognizable statue associated with ancient Egypt and among the most famous in the world. The limestone Sphinx is ~4,500 years old and the largest structure created from a single piece of stone. Simply magnificent and easily combined with your visit to The Great Pyramids complex.

Luxor Temple at Night

Situated in the ancient city of Thebes, Luxor Temple was one of the most powerful temples in Ancient Egypt. I’ve visited this temple twice in the past 10 years and it never disappoints, particularly at night. The avenue of the Sphinx guide you to the massive pharaoh statues stand guarding at the front of the temple. Inside statues commemorate all periods of Egyptian History. Luxor Temple is truly magical.

One of Nubia’s most important monument sites, the Temple of Philae is just outside the current city of Aswan. The most impressive part of this island temple dedicated to the God Isis is that the original Philae site is completely underwater. When the Nile river was dammed, this entire stone complex had to be moved and meticulously reconstructed to avoid losing it completely.

Visit Tip: We feel Philae is the best location in Egypt to experience a “Sound and Light Show”. Far better than in Luxor or Giza which can feel overdone.
